About us

We believe that to fight poverty a movement is needed to teach a man to fish not feed him a fish. In many third world countries Charity has become a dirty word.

During a disaster we know local or foreign aide is paramount.

But when aide becomes a way of life and is still in place forty (40) years later we believe we have failed to establish self sufficiency and believe we now need to correct our wrongs but not our hearts and the way we focus our support giving some one, anyone the ability to sustain themselves and their families.

Our focus is on community well being projects, by educating and assisting people on their economic sustainable goals.

Anthony Jones
Executive Program Director

Anthony Jones is a Navy combat veteran and a VFW Lifetime Member who served as a Fleet Marine Force Corpsman with the U.S. Marine Corps. A Florida native, his naval service began in 1988 as a recruit at the historic San Diego Naval Training Center; upon graduation, he the Naval School of Health Sciences, San Diego, Ca. earning his basic designation as a Hospital Corpsman and his advanced training as a Preventive Medicine Technician that encompassed epidemiology, toxicology, environmental health, industrial hygiene, and occupational safety disciplines. After 24 years of honorable service, he continues to serve the State of Florida and its communities as a Notary Public, a Certified Financial Education Instructor, a contracted Community Health worker and Tobacco Treatment Specialist dedicated to rural and underserved communities. He is the owner of Jones Notaries, LLC, Founder/CEO of Jacoshima, LLC a financial and investment education company, and now is lending his services and dedication as the Executive Director of the not-for-profit organization, Combat Poverty. He earned a BS in Occupational Safety and Health from Columbia Southern University and is currently pursuing his Master’s in Health Administration from Capella University. Additionally, he is working on his book, Monetary Capacity, a foundational look into attaining financial stability, maximizing opportunities, and residual conversion. Anthony Jones resides in Orange Park, FL.

Our sustainable Charrettes are used to enhance the quality of life, in geographically dispersed rural counties and beyond. We team up with  master’s degree students in Universities who are studying urban and regional planning and bio architectural design. Rae Glasgow
President

Rae serves as the Chief Executive Officer for Ballard and Glasgow LLC.  a consulting company in Tallahassee Florida. Her professional career began shortly after receiving a degree in nursing in New Zealand, she went on to get further education as a Midwife and then as a specialist in Industrial Phycology. Rae left the medical world to become the marketing manager for a commuter airline, she then represented Rotary International on a humanitarian project and traveled the world. In 1992 in South Florida she became engaged in community redevelopment.  Rae will bring her vast background in the corporate and non-profit world to help with the board’s mission to become an organization that will be defined by its actions.

Warren Ballard, CPA
Treasurer

Warren currently serves as the Chief Financial Officer at a top-ranked commercial development company headquartered in Southwest Georgia where he lives with his wife and children. His professional career began shortly after receiving an honorable discharge from the US Marine Corps when he began work at a highly respected regional accounting firm. After several years in public accounting, he transitioned to private business where he has built a reputation as an innovative and effective leader in a variety of industries. Warren is looking forward bringing his expertise to bear in helping Combat Poverty to become a best-in-class organization.

Arthur Bialowas, CISSP, PMP
Vice President

Arthur serves as CIO for an internet marketing company in Jacksonville, as well as CEO of Security Exchange LLC, a cyber security company in Tallahassee, FL.

A passionate believer in all things digital and the amazing potential of technology to change the world for the better,  Arthur is excited to use his passion for technology to both serve and lead the Foundation’s efforts.

Having founded several companies, served as CISO in Higher Education, and with 15 years of IT consulting experience across many industry verticals, Arthur is eager to leverage his wealth of experience to produce a meaningful impact to the organization’s goals.

 

Jeanne Ethridge
Secretary

Jeanne has more than 20 years experience in Management and Customer Service and has worked with companies in the United States, Europe and India implementing Projects in Customer Service, Quality Assurance and Business Performance Tracking.  Jeanne graduated from the University of Central Florida with a B.S. degree in Business Administration and her management experience ranges from 10 direct reports to 300 (direct and indirect) reports in multiple Domestic and International locations. Jeanne is excited to fulfill the vision of the Board and to help those locally and regionally.
